Miso Maple Dijon Salmon

Miso Maple Dijon Salmon!!!  I love this combination of flavours?  The saltiness of the miso, the sweetness of the Maple Syrup and the sourness of the Dijon mustard?  It’s Umami heaven!  Do you know that the 5th flavour is called Umami?  The common four flavours are:

  • Salty
  • Sweet
  • Sour
  • Bitter

Umami is a combination of salty, tangy and sweet – a totally addictive flavour.  Do you or have you eaten food with MSG?  It is considered Umami but please don’t eat anything with MSG as it’s considered a carcinogenic and can cause severe reactions in some people.  If you eat a lot of Japanese food though, you would have experienced Umami!  My favourite flavour out of them all!

I have found an online delivery source for the best Salmon in the world!  This Salmon comes from the cleanest fresh water in South Island New Zealand and although it is farmed, it is one of the purest and most sustainably produced salmon in the world.  I order it from Sasha’s Fine Foods in Singapore and you can find it here.  The name of the Salmon provider is Mt Cook Alpine Salmon!  I also buy my chicken from Sasha’s Fine Foods for the Lebanese Lemon Garlic Chicken which you can find here and the Roast Chicken Recipe which you can find here. Miso Maple Dijon Salmon

Ingredients

  • 4 Pieces Salmon Fillets
  • 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup organic
  • 2 Tbsp Mustard grainy
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Tbsp Miso Paste White, organic
  • 1 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 2 tsp Soy Sauce or Tamari
  • 1 Clove Garlic Grated or crushed

Instructions

  1. Combine the Maple Syrup, mustard, miso, vinegar, soy sauce and garlic and marinate the Salmon for at least 30 minutes

  2. Preheat the oven to 180 deg C

  3. Place the Salmon in a baking dish and bake in until salmon just starts to flake easily - approximately 10-15 minutes
